I follow a channel on YouTube called No Plan, in which two guys do really amazing things and document their experiences in video form. The catch? They're broke, and everything that happens is due to the generosity of others.
They've hitchhiked hundreds of miles, raised money to get a hearing aid for one of their fiancés, gotten into concerts for (almost) free, and now one of them is hitchhiking his way to Israel.
Every time I watch one of their videos, I'm struck by the way God provides. In my own life, I've seen his provision most often through money. But watching those videos, I start to wonder if I've only seen God's provision through money because that's the only way I've ever thought to ask for his provision.
I'm reminded of the disciples. They left everything they knew to follow Jesus: their families, their friends, their social standing, their security. I think of Paul. He'd had a mission to eradicate Christianity, and he became one of the most highly esteemed people of the faith.
Here's the interesting thing about Paul to me. He did travel, trusting God to provide what was needed through the generosity of others, but he also trusted that God would provide through his tent making business.
What I'm trying to say is this: The men of No Plan have seen God's provision in a way different than I have. But we've both seen God's provision. And even when it's tempting to think their version of God's provision is "better" or "more faithful" than mine, I can know that line of thinking is a lie. It's not better, it's just different.
We follow the path God has set out for us. For me, that path has taken me to college for a writing degree. For them, that path has taken them hitchhiking across the country. Where has your path taken you?
