When Plans Change

Life never seems to go the way we plan. Have you noticed that?

Sometimes, you plan a nice vacation, and your flight is delayed. Then, when you finally arrive, it takes three hours to get a rental car, and then when you eventually get to your hotel, it smells of cigarettes so strongly you can't breathe when you walk through the hall to your room.

Or, you make plans for after you graduate, deciding to go to another state and try something new, but you start applying for jobs in the industry you trained for and those jobs take you to the other side of the country.

You plan to go on an amazing business trip and come back sicker than anything.

As humans, we can see only a little way into the future, and even that "foresight" is limited and flawed, dependent on our correctly guessing everything that precedes it. Guess after guess after guess. And we never seem to plan for things to go wrong. We don't plan our lives around an expected car crash, or an expected late train, or an expected flight delay.

The good news, though, is that God plans for those things. He plans around them and through them. He has the perfect foreknowledge of our lives, down to the minute details of how much sleep we get, how much caffeine is in our bodies, and what we ate for breakfast.

Not only does he know how much and when, but he also knows how he'll provide.

We can rest assured in the protection and planning of our omniscient, omnipotent God. He loves us, and is working on our behalf.

Isn't that amazing?

Rest today in the sweet knowledge of our Savior's care.
